Weight gain

I have had uncontrollable urges for candy and sweets...
He did many blood tests...
I paid the local emergency room a visit...
I had no idea...
I finally found the cause of my migraines!
I thought I was crazy...
I am so much more sharp in my thinking now...

I had joined Overeaters Anonymous 4 months ago. Since I had joined, I haven't eaten any desserts since. However, I had continued to use alot of Splenda. I would even use it in things that were already sweetened! I cant explain what happened but last week I decided to decrease my intake of Splenda. I did it and today I got on the scale and discovered that I have lost 6 pounds. My weekly weigh-ins are normally losses of 1 or 2 pounds if that. Reducing the amount of Splenda was the only major change in my diet this week and I still cant believe the weight loss. I am going to continue to reduce and hopefully eliminate Splenda and hopefully I will continue to lose weight.

Hello Anonymous,
I have been using Splenda for at least 2 years, and no matter how hard I try, I keep gaining weight!
All of it seems to be around my middle.
I am going to stop using Splenda, and see if it makes any difference for me. Thank you for the information...............JH

Thank you for the information. Since I have started using Splenda I have not lost any weight. I am going to try not using it for a couple of days. I will bookmark this site and let you know.

I had heard that Splenda was bad for you but didn't think to much more about it until I decided to do some research on Splenda myself and that's when I found the foodand diet.com site and to my surprise I have quite a few of the side effects that are listed. Scared me enough that I will stop using Splenda and see if I start feeling better.

Hello all,

It is amazing to learn about this, and wonderfully timely! Over the past couple of months I have gained almost 20 pounds...making me really crazy!

My recent indulgence has been brewing herbal teas laced with Splenda. I also have been noticing that it is taking more and more Spelnda to satisfy my tastebuds. Liken to this, I have been noticing more cravings for sweets, pastas, rice, bread...not at all my normal fare of food...

Goodbye Splenda.

Thanks everyone!

I took me a long time to come to terms with Sucralose was hindering my weight loss. Last year, I started back doing 5-6 days of 20-40min of hard cardio, cut back on my juices, drank more water but treated myself to regular food on Sundays. I lost 6-7 holes on my belt in 4-5 months! ...then I tried to get an edge in losing the final few inches by making Kool-Aid w/ Sucralose and using the latter in everything to my cereal to my oatmeal, etc. I didn't realize until much later that I starting gaining weight, no matter how much I exercised, etc. I've geen feeling very bloated (and I'm a guy!!) and it looks like I have a spare tire around my gut area.

I'm permanently stopping all Surcralose intack effectively immediately. I used to drink a lot of Aspertame about 10 years ago and lost a lot of weight but then started sufferring horrible swollen joints, night sweats, etc. At my worst symptoms, I needed crutches to walk and couldn't run. After haulting all intake of Aspertame I was a 100% a few months later. I should have learned my lesson then.

I'm DONE with artificial sweetners. Losing weight by hard cardio, cutting back on sugar and drinking lots of water was by the far the most effective process for losing weight for me, with excellent results, and I felt great.

Btw, last night I poured out the rest of my Splenda Kool-Aid and threw the rest of my Splenda power away. I didn't feel bloated at all yesterday. I also didn't have my usual uncontrollable early a.m. sleep eating binges, which were horrible. I NEVER had those until I starting using Splenda. It took me a while to piece everything together. ...so done with artificial sweetners.
